ABOUT:


Pu Ying Huang is the director of photography at The Texas Tribune, where she works with a vast network of freelancers across the state on news assignments and photo stories. She is also a National Press Photographers Association board member and national co-chair of the clips contest.

Huang was previously a freelance photojournalist in Houston working for a range of national and local outlets. She then spent 3 years in Colombia honing in on Spanish and working on stories about migration before moving back to her home state of Texas. Her work has appeared in many outlets, including Houston Chronicle, Reuters, Al Jazeera English, VICE News and more.

In her current role at the Tribune, Huang focuses on producing visuals that reflect the experiences of Texans impacted by state politics and public policy.
